CRPF is an acronym for the Central Reserve Police Force, which is the largest paramilitary force in India. It was established in 1939 under the British Empire as the Crown Representative's Police, and later reorganized as the CRPF in 1949 after India gained its independence. Its primary role is to assist the state police in maintaining law and order, counter-insurgency operations, anti-terrorist activities and border security. The CRPF also plays a vital role in disaster management and promotion of sports among youth. The force has over 300,000 personnel, and its headquarters are located in New Delhi.
